These terms cover your use of UtilityBox (this website). By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site — there's no account or sign-up, so that's genuinely as simple as closing the tab.

The service

UtilityBox provides free calculators and utility tools that run in your browser — no account, no sign-up, no payment. We can change, add, remove, or discontinue any tool at any time, without notice. We try not to break things, but we don't promise the site or any specific tool will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted.

No professional advice — accuracy isn't guaranteed

This is the important one. Every tool on this site — including the UK Salary, VAT, Loan Repayment, Tip, and Percentage calculators, and the Network/CIDR calculator — is provided for general informational purposes only. None of it is financial, tax, legal, or professional advice, and none of it should be relied on as the sole basis for a financial, business, or technical decision.

We've tried to implement the underlying formulas correctly and verified them against known reference figures, but tax rules, exchange rates, and interest calculations change, edge cases exist, and software has bugs. Always double-check anything that actually matters — a mortgage decision, a tax return, a production network configuration — with an authoritative source (HMRC, a qualified accountant or financial adviser, your bank, official documentation) before acting on it.

No warranty, no liability

The site and its tools are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including, without limitation, warranties of accuracy, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site or any tool on it — including decisions made or actions taken based on a tool's output. If you're a consumer in the UK, nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

• Try to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the site (e.g. automated scraping at a rate that affects other visitors).
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site's infrastructure.
• Use the site for anything unlawful.

We reserve the right to block access for anyone who doesn't follow this.

Third-party services

Some tools call out to third-party services to work — for example, the Currency Converter uses the Frankfurter API, and the site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices, which we don't control. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail on what talks to what.

Content and word lists

The site's code and design are ours. The word list used by the Word Unscrambler and Word Builder tools incorporates the UK Advanced Cryptics Dictionary — see the credit at the bottom of those tool pages for the license it's used under.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. If we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
