Overview
UtilityBox is a collection of free calculators and utility tools. Every calculation — the scientific calculator, unit converter, UK salary calculator, network calculator, word tools, and generators — runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you type into those tools is sent to our server.
What happens on this site right now
- We don't require accounts, logins, or any personal information to use any tool.
- We don't run our own analytics and don't set any cookies ourselves. We do use Google AdSense to show ads, and Google's ad script sets cookies of its own — see "Advertising" below.
- Our web hosting provider's server automatically records standard access logs for every request (IP address, page requested, referrer, user agent, and timestamp), the same as almost any website. These logs are used only to keep the site running, debug problems, and detect abuse — we don't analyse them for marketing purposes or share them with third parties.
Third-party requests
Two tools on this site talk to an external service in order to work:
- Currency Converter — fetches exchange rates from the Frankfurter API (European Central Bank data). Your device makes this request directly, so your IP address is visible to that service the same way it would be to any site you visit. We don't send it any of your other data. See the Frankfurter project for their terms.
- Word Unscrambler / Word Builder — download a static word list from our own server. No data is sent, only received.
No other tool on this site makes any network request.
Advertising
This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. To do that, every page loads a script
from Google (pagead2.googlesyndication.com). Google may set cookies and use information
about your device and browsing activity to choose which ads to show you, including personalized ads
based on your interests, unless you've opted out or restricted this.
If you're in the UK, EEA, or Switzerland, you'll see a consent prompt (powered by Google's Funding Choices) before any personalization happens. The choice you make there controls whether Google shows you personalized or non-personalized ads on this site — you can change your answer at any time by clearing your cookies and reloading the page, which brings the prompt back.
You can:
- Manage or turn off ad personalization directly with Google.
- Review your wider Google privacy settings.
- Use a browser or extension that blocks third-party ad cookies or scripts.
We don't control what Google does with the data its ad script collects — see Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services for that. We still don't run any analytics of our own, and we don't sell or share data with anyone beyond what's needed for Google to serve ads.
Your rights
Because we don't collect personal data beyond standard server logs, there is very little of yours for us to hold. If you're in the UK or EU (GDPR) or California (CCPA) and have questions about what our server logs contain or want something removed, contact us using the details below and we'll do our best to help.
Changes to this policy
If we change what data this site collects — most likely by adding ads or analytics — we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
